I LIKE YOU VERY MUCH APPLIQUE TAPESTRY
I Like You Very Much
I drive by this little scene whenever I go to my kid's school and I always enjoy seeing it. I'm fascinated by the layers of the hillside, from the old buildings with their rickety staircases and sagging retaining walls to the invasive and random plants and the bold "I LIKE YOU VERY MUCH" sign and “SILVERLAKE" graffiti. It's like a mashup of cultures, plans and times all slapped on top of each other. I like to think that layering the fabric to make this appliqué conveys that feeling of layering you see over time in a specific place like this one. But maybe I just need to get out more.
