House of Ninja Trophy Case Felt 84 "x 50", 2011 This is a trophy case featuring memorabilia for the House of Ninja, a prominent drag ball House featured in the film Paris is Burning (see the trailer here). By creating a trophy case I am focusing on the extremely competitive aspects of the ball culture and the similarities and differences this competition has to more traditional forms of athletic competition. The memorabilia itself also recalls the fact that the House of Ninja invented "vogueing", which seems to be completely forgotten today. |
